Good Signal on Vessel

  • At Bridge- near window facing shore
  • Always check if facing shore - dynamic as vessel moves
  • on Out side deck - facing shore
  • not in Rooms as walls of steel will block Signal
  • at time is port hole is present in Room like Hopital/ medical room - only time to get signal is at the port hole
  • at time cargo like loggs block the signal from the prot hole
  • Look for land


Boarding of Vessel

  • Pre-Boarding Procedures
  • Meeting at Pier - On Time and On target
  • Launch boat Boarding and Travel to Destination
  • Climbing / Tranfer to Vessel
  • Signing in on Vessel
  • Safety while physical boarding:

- Gear: helmut/life jacket/safety shoes / Coverall / Backpack / loose items

- Reading the Sea State / Weather

- Pilot Ladder safety - lenght-height/ broken/  secured by magnet- magnet improperly placed

- Gangway safety - degree of the slope 30 to 45 degrees - usually 60 steps

- Boarding at Outside Port Limits ( OPL) - 2 moving boats


  • Reporting and Signing in while on vessel - Temperature/ NRIC/ Ship ID/ Record Book
  • Proceed to Bridge - see Master
  • Porceed to Perform Crew Medical inspection/Examination

  3. On Outside Deck - ask for table and Chirs/ beware of windy areas
  4. In Room assesscible from Ouside Deck


Signing Off Crew

  • Fill in Health Declaration form for Crew prior to leaving for boarding of vessel
  • Performace of Telemed
  • Temperature
  • Oximenter
  • Blood Pressure
  • Video Confernece Real Time -Platorm- Dr to ask history/ Examination-Eyes/Eyelids lower/ Throat/ Cough or deep nreadthing for chest pain
  • Video of Crew ( only as last resort if no signal) - Eyes/ Throat/ Cough or Deep and quick inspiration
  • Issuance of Fit To Travel (FTT) Paperwork


Report Sick Crew

  • Vital Signs Mnitoring T'C/ BP/ HR/ SaO2%
  • Ask What is the issue ? - Identifiy the medical problem
  • Take History
  • Take Pic of wound/ rash painful body part etc / Blood in Stool
  • Use Body Map and draw and write the signs and symptoms - and send back this image to Call Center


Non-Emergency Intervention

Ships Pharmacy - Flag state of the vessel

  • Medication - as prescribed by Doctor
  • Injection - IM, IV, Oral , PR
  • ABC's
  • Sutures
  • IV Fluids
  • Conditions:
  • Wounds
  • Diarrhoea,
  • Urinary Infection- UTI; Epididymorchitis
  • Addomiinal pain
  • MSS / Joint Pain
  • Neurological pain/ asessment - rhombergs test
  • Nail-/ Paranocia


Emergency Intervention

  • Concious and unconcious crew
  • Oxygen Provision
  • Primary / Secondary Survey/ vital signs assessment
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Stroke
  • Epilepsy

  • Emergency Evacation from Vessel- Basket Transfer/ Neilson Stretcher - with crane / SKED
